Graffiti knitting everywhere I turn
Everywhere I go these days there is a surprise. I went out for supper with Alan Flint and when we left the restaurant and turned the corner (Alma and Broadway) we discovered this bike stand that someone tagged.
Last night in V-town
Andrea Pinheiro is a friend who leaves Vancouver tomorrow. She is joining the faculty at Algoma University in Sault Ste. Marie where she will be working with another great friend, Tom O'Flanagan. Tonight her joint show with Damian Moppett, "Not Photographs", opened at the Satellite Gallery. We are going to miss you around here Andrea.
Stadium Piece
I heard that Western Washington University in Bellingham has a fine outdoor sculpture collection. Today in the late afternoon, I had an opportunity to stop there as I was returning to Vancouver. It was a beautiful afternoon and the work that is located around the campus is well worth stopping to see. There are approximately thirty sculptures including work by Mark di Suevero, Richard Serra, Anthony Caro, Isamu Noguchi, Robert Morris, Beverly Pepper and Tom Otterness. One wonders if the present administration would have the funds and courage to invest in art today? If you're driving by take some time
He’s a good looking man
I spent two days in Guelph, ON with long time friend Rob O'Flanagan. There has been much debate in his family about which brother carries the handsome gene. But, I think this picture might settle that argument. We spent part of our weekend looking for Amanda McMorran. We did get to see her exhibition at the Macdonald Stewart Art Centre and also sat in a sofa being sold at her yard sale. However we never caught sight of her.
