In 1975, I spent a year studying at the Vancouver School of Art (now Emily Carr University of Art & Design). I wanted to be there to learn about lithography with Bob Evermon. The experience sprung me into the Tamarind Program in Albuquerque, NM and then almost immediately to Tyler Graphics in Bedford Hills, NY. Among the students who were in the class were Judith Schwarz, Monique Fouquet, Deborah Koenker, Chris Brady and Marcia Wedeking. Photo credit to Bob Evermon

The first project at Tyler Graphics that was entirely in my hands was one with Nancy Graves. We worked together to produce six editions of  intaglio prints, each using multiple plates and colours. In this picture, Nancy is mixing inks to get the right colour in the early stages of proofing for one of the prints. I am wiping a plate.

James Lisitza and Sylvia Jonescu-Lisitza were founding members of the Photographers Gallery in Saskatoon - one of the early artist-run-centres in Canada. Sylvia realized I am in Vancouver and teaching at Emily Carr and took the time to call me. Out of the blue, my phone rang and we found ourselves together again. Here we are in my studio after a lapse of many, many years. It was so sweet to reconnect. We are not going to lose track again

This badge of me was produced by my friend Deborah Koenker in a light-hearted moment when we were students at the Vancouver School of Art.
